Insulating Concrete Forms: Installed Cost and Acoustic Performance
This report contains results from studies on Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs).
It compares the cost and acoustic performance of insulating concrete form walls
to conventional wood-frame exterior walls. The NAHB Research Center designed
and monitored the construction of three houses - two with ICFs and one with
traditional wood framing - and recorded material qualities, labor requirements,
and material costs. This report will allow builders to evaluate the cost
impacts of ICFs more efficiently and identifies many opportunities to optimize
the construction of homes using this technology.
