Housing Durability Assessment and Survey Data
Understanding the durability of materials and methods of building construction
has been one of the most elusive topics to builders, designers, and scientists.
In this unique pilot study, representative samples of homes from two age groups
are surveyed with respect to construction and site characteristics. Various
methods of rating condition are applied. In addition, parametric studies of
relationships between durability and construction or site characteristics are
explored to provide insights on how to build more durable structures based on
the experience of the past and recent construction practices and trends. The
data includes actual site surveys as well as owner/occupant surveys.
