Wood Shear Walls with Corners
This research study provides test data and analysis in support of engineering
methods to account for lateral stability and restraint provided by corners of
wood frame buildings. Several wall configurations with various lengths, opening
amounts, and corner return lengths are studied. Various theories for evaluating
shear wall performance are compared to tested results. In addition, a
methodology for designing corners as part of the wall restraint system is
initially proposed.
