Effective Homebuyer Incentives
What Incentives Work Best for Your Market?
The NAHB Research Center is offering builders, realtors, and member
organizations an opportunity to customize for their markets a
study that was conducted in early January 2009 to learn the most effective
incentives builders and home sellers can offer to entice buyers back.
The survey queried potential homebuyers in 700 households who indicated they
wanted to purchase a home within six months but were "on the fence" due to the
overall economy, the state of the housing market, or their personal financial
situations.
This study can be tailored to get this kind of information for your market,
testing the specific incentives your company or association considers viable.
You choose:
-
Geographic market(s)
-
Incentive categories and values
-
Qualifications of survey participants
-
Buyer demographics
Once you specify these inputs, you can have survey results in your hands in
about two weeks. The findings will reveal the most powerful incentive, or mix
of incentives, in your market for market segments of your choice:
-
Buyer demographics (age, income, education, gender, etc.)
-
Buyers in the market for new or existing homes
-
Price-point of home buyers are seeking
-
Current occupancy status (renter or homeowner)
-
Any other factors you specify
These results are yours to share or keep confidential. The Research Center will
deliver a summary of the overall findings in an easy-to-use, Excel-based
"decision simulator" which allows you to compare the attractiveness of various
combinations of offerings—this allows you to pinpoint the most effective
incentives for each of your target audiences.
