Plumbing Products
The NAHB Research Center tests and labels plumbing products for conformance to
the requirements in the HUD Use of Materials Bulletin No. 73a, Title 24 of
HUD's Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards, Part 3280, Sub-part
G, Plumbing Systems. Products certified under this program also conform to the
performance requirements specified in the model building codes.
All of the national model codes, HUD's Use of Materials Bulletin No. 73a, and
the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards require that all
plastic plumbing fixtures comply with the requirements set forth in the
appropriate ANSI Z124 standard for plastic plumbing fixtures and ASME
A112.19.7 for whirlpool bathtub appliances. The Research Center certifies
plastic plumbing fixtures that meet requirements appearing in the latest issue
of the applicable standards, as noted below.

The national model codes specify that a manufacturer’s products be tested and/or
listed by an independent third party. The NAHB Research Center holds the
following credentials:

Recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as an
administrator for building product standards and certification programs for
plastic bathroom fixtures as specified in the UM73a

Listed by IAS as a testing and inspecition agency

Approved as an IAPMO testing laboratory

Accredited by the state of California as a listing agency

Accredited by NIST’s National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program
(NVLAP)
