Meeting of Consensus Committee for Nations Green Building Standard 2012 Update

The NAHB Research Center, secretariat for the 2012 Update of the National Green
Building Standard, recently announced that the next meeting of the Consensus
Committee will take place February 21-23, 2012, at the National Housing Center
in Washington, DC. It will be open to the public.

Industry Experts to Discuss Merits,

Today, as part of the EcoBuild Conference at the Washington Convention Center,
the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) and its Building Enclosure
Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) will host a day-long symposium on
High-Performance Light-Framed Walls. NAHB Research Center staff will moderate
and participate in the panels for many of the sessions.

Public Comment Period for ANSI Square
Footage Standard Opens October 17th- 10/17/2011
As an ANSI Accredited Standards Development Organization, the NAHB Research
Center is issuing notice for public comment on the reaffirmation of the American
National Standard for Single-Family Residential Buildings, Square Footage –
Method of Calculating, ANSI Z765-2003. The public comment period
commences October 17th and will end December 5th.

Chicago Study Shows Cost Advantages of

A new report on green certification costs for home building and remodeling in
the Chicago market says that the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) is a
more flexible, affordable alternative for certifying single-family homes,
